AP: Ration shop dealers told to maintain quality, precise weighing

Eluru, June 1 (UNI) District Collector directed the ration shop dealers to maintain quality and precise weighing while delivering ration goods to the cardholders.

Delivering of ration commodities to the ration card holders through fair price shops began on Sunday. District Collector K Vetri Selvi inspected the distribution commodities to the ration card holders at a ration shop at Tangellamudi village on Sunday.

She also observed distribution of ration commodities to the beneficiaries at ration shop number 127 accompanied by the revenue officials concerned. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Vetri Selvi said that ration is being distributed to 6,20,146 ration cardholders through 1,123 ration shops in Eluru district.

She reiterated that the government had taken steps to provide ration goods to people above 65 years of age and the disabled at their doorsteps. The Collector ordered the ration shop dealers to provide ration commodities to the beneficiaries in a proper manner. She also instructed the ration shop dealers to display the details of the prices and the stock details of commodities, supplied to the ration shop by the civil supplies.

“The ration shops should be kept open during the hours specified by the government from 8 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm. Ration card holders should be provided with goods by the 15th of every month.

The elderly and differently-abled people who are over 65 years of age, should be provided with ration goods by going to their homes by the 5th of every month, Collector Vetri Selvi told the officials.

The District Collector inspected the process of recording the details of the cardholders in the e-POS machine and weighing the rice. The Collector also instructed the ration shop dealers to distribute ration transparently without any complaints from the public.
On this occasion, the Collector interacted with the beneficiaries and inquired about the quality of the ration commodities given to them.

The District Collector was accompanied by Special Deputy Collector Devaki Devi, Tahsildar Seshagiri Rao, Deputy Tahsildar Ramesh, President of the District Ration Dealers Association Rajulapati Gangadhar and others.
