AP: Ration will be delivered to elderly, differently-abled people at their door steps : Nadendla

Vijayawada, May 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar has made it clear that ration commodities will be delivered to the elderly people and the differently-abled people at their door steps.

The Minister held a meeting with the ration shop dealers association representatives here on Thursday. He directed the ration shop dealers to hand over the ration commodities to the elderly and disabled people by the 5th of every month at their doorsteps.
During the previous regime, door delivery of ration was not done, but the ration commodities used to be delivered at the end of the road. The incumbent government had decided to dispense with MDU vehicles in a bid to check the rice mafia, the Minister revealed.

He directed the ration shop dealers to deliver subsidized commodities through the ration shops from June 1 onwards in a festive atmosphere to the beneficiaries. The Minister insisted that ration shop dealers install a CCTV camera at every ration shop. He said that there are over 30,000 ration shops across the State to provide subsidized commodities to the ration card holders.

Nadendla Manohar clarified that technology should be added to the distribution of rations to make the process easier, adding that dealers should be ready to distribute rations without forcing the beneficiaries to stand in long queues at the ration shops.

He suggested that ration dealers should form WhatsApp groups to provide better services to the cardholders so that the distribution can take place smoothly. He also advised that a WhatsApp group be formed for the elderly, disabled, and bedridden people who are alone on the card, and a WhatsApp group be formed for the rest of the cardholders. The Minister warned of stringent action against the ration shop dealers if they trouble the ration card holders while delivering the ration.
Later addressing a press conference in the civil supplies office, Minister Manohar made it clear that there is no last date to apply for new ration cards and also for changes.

“Issuance of new ration cards is a continued process. There will be no last date for the same. A ration card will be issued to all eligible people,” the Minister clarified, adding that there will be no delay in issuing new ration cards and the new ration card will be issued within 21 days at of cost. He revealed that the e-KYC process had been completed for 2,24,59,029 cardholders, however, 22,59,498 cardholders are yet to complete their e-KYC.

He highlighted that so far over 60,000 people had applied for new ration cards while over 12,500 cardholders applied for change of address. The ration card dates were synchronized to the village and ward secretariats after the coalition government came to power, he asserted.
