AP: Three notorious burglars arrested, Rs 1 Cr worth booty recovered

Kadapa, May 22 (UNI) The police arrested three notorious burglars at Otukuru village of Rajampet mandal in Annamayya district in Andhra Pradesh and recovered booty including gold jewellery, silver ornaments and vehicles worth over Rs 1 crore.

Informing this to the media here on Thursday, Annamayya district Superintendent of police V Vidyasagar said that the police arrested three notorious burglars and recovered gold jewelry weighing about one KGs, silver ornaments weighing about 3 KGs, Rs 1.40 lakh cash, two bikes and an auto rickshaw.

The SP gave the names of arrested burglars as Thota Shiva Kumar (A1), Jetti Subramanyam (A2) and Surepalli Venkatesh (A3) who were involved in various crimes in different districts. AI Thota
Shiva Kumar befriended A2 Jetti Subrmanyam when they were in prison in Guntur.

After being freed from prison, they along with A3 Surepalli Venkatesh, started committing burglaries. They took a house on rent in Rajampet and started burglaries during night time.

The trio committed 17 burglaries including in Nakkapalli, Bommuru, Thiruchanur, Pileru, Rayachoti, Rajampet,Bommuru, Obulavaripalli and Mannuru, and cases registered against them at various police stations under various sections.
AI Thota Shivakumar alone was involved in over 150 offences and he was convicted many times.

The SP said that the police recovered gold jewellery weighing 961 grams, worth over Rs 1 crore, silver ornaments weighing 3 KGs worth over Rs 3 lakh, cash Rs 1.45 lakh, two motorcycles and an auto rickshaw.

The modus operandi of the arrested burglars was that they used to observe locked houses during the day time and commit burglary during night.
SP Vidyasagar appreciated ASP Manoj Ramanth Hegde, Mannuru Inspector S Kullayapa and CCS Inspector M Chandrasekhar for arresting the three notorious burglars.
