Attempt to murder & firing case cracked by Delhi Police; two held with pistols & 18 rounds after exchange of fire

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Delhi Police, North East District, have cracked an attempt to murder and firing incident case of Bhajanpura, and arrested two accused persons after a brief exchange of fire.
The accused, when intercepted, had opened fire, firing 12 rounds at the police team. Two police personnel were hit by the bullets, but were saved by their bullet-proof jackets.
In self-defence, the police team also fired at the accused persons, and they both sustained injuries and were apprehended.
Forensic teams subsequently inspected the spot and collected relevant evidence.
According to a senior police official, the special team of the North East District involved in the operation has also recovered three semi-automatic pistols, 18 live rounds from the accused in this connection.
It was on October 2, at about 3:20 am, information regarding a firing incident was received at Bhajanpura Police Station, and the police team had immediately rushed to the spot, in Gali No. 16, Subhash Vihar, North Ghonda, wherein the complainant, reported that at about 02:43 AM, he heard a noise in the street and came out on his balcony.
The complainant noticed two persons riding a scooty and carrying pistols, and the assailants allegedly fired rounds towards him and in the air before fleeing the spot.
The bullets had struck the glass railing and exterior wall of the building; fortunately no one sustained injuries in the incident.
Assessing the gravity of the incident, the special staff team was assigned the task to trace and arrest the accused involved in the crime at the earliest.
The team thoroughly scanned and analysed CCTV footages of the vicinity and available evidences, developed intelligence inputs and conducted raids at multiple locations to trace the suspects.
During the intervening night of Sunday-Monday, the team received specific information regarding the movement of the accused persons involved in the firing incident.
Acting on the tip-off, the team laid a strategic trap on the road from Nanaksar towards Third Pushta Road, Usmanpur. At around 2:45 AM, two persons travelling on a motorcycle without a registration plate were spotted, and intercepted, to which the persons allegedly opened fire towards the police personnel.
The accused have been identified as Jasim alias Aloo, resident of Welcome, Delhi, and has previous involvement in an Arms Act case registered at the Special Cell, Delhi Police.
The second accused was identified as Kaif alias DJ, also a resident of Welcome, Delhi.
During investigation, both accused disclosed their involvement in the firing incident and stated that they had allegedly carried out the firing at the complainant and his house on the directions of a person named Rashid alias Cablewala. Their disclosure and the role of other persons are being further verified.
