Lucknow, Oct 24 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken strict action on five Block Level Officers (BLOs) and a Computer assistant in Azamgarh, after severe irregularities were found in the electoral roll revision.
Taking immediate cognizance of the allegation made by the Samajwadi Party through a press conference on October 15, 2026, that "the name of a person named Vikas Yadav is listed 10 times in the voter list of Assembly Constituency 347-Azamgarh," a detailed investigation report was obtained from the District Election Officer, Azamgarh.
According to the investigation report, a voter with the same name and same age belongs to the Assembly Constituency Chauri Chaura of Gorakhpur district, who is different from the other 13 entries.
The name of the voter mentioned in the allegation, "Vikas Yadav," was found to be listed 13 times in Hindi in the voter list of Assembly Constituency 347-Azamgarh.
Regarding the voter's name appearing as "Vikas Yadav" in Hindi at 13 places, deletion proceedings have already been initiated in two places as per the rules.
The remaining 11 entries pertain to 11 different individuals from Azamgarh district, currently residing in their respective villages. Form-8 has been filled out for the correction of the actual names and other details of 10 individuals, except for the actual "Vikas Yadav."
