Hyderabad, May 13 (UNI) Bajaj Auto Limited, the world's most valuable two-wheeler and three-wheeler company, launched its all-new electric three-wheeler, the Bajaj GOGO Auto, in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Telangana Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who formally launched the vehicle, congratulated Bajaj Auto for introducing the new EV model. He noted that the initiative aligns with the Telangana government's vision of promoting clean and sustainable mobility, while also serving public needs.
The Minister highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Telangana is offering 100 per cent free registration for EVs until 2026—a first-of-its-kind initiative in India.
He noted that this has already boosted the sales of EVs across vehicle categories, from two-wheelers to luxury cars.
In its broader effort to curb pollution, the state aims to encourage the use of EVs, CNG, and LPG vehicles across the proposed Regional Ring Road. As part of this strategy, TGSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) is preparing an action plan to introduce 800 electric buses in Hyderabad.
Minister Prabhakar lauded the Bajaj GOGO as a convenient and comfortable commuting solution and expressed hope for a strong market response. He urged the company to collaborate with the state government’s Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme, which has been allocated Rs 6,000 crore to support self-employment opportunities for the unemployed. Under this scheme, unemployed youth could purchase EVs like the Bajaj GOGO for self-sustaining livelihoods.
He also suggested the introduction of vehicle exchange offers to allow existing auto-rickshaw owners to upgrade to EVs. Additionally, as a green initiative, he recommended offering a free sapling with each vehicle purchase to promote environmental sustainability.
Speaking on the occasion, Samardeep Subandh, President of the Intra-City Business Unit at Bajaj Auto Limited, said, “The launch of the all-electric Bajaj GOGO range of three-wheelers will set new benchmarks in the segment. Telangana, being one of India’s largest three-wheeler markets, is a natural launchpad for the Bajaj GOGO.
With a certified range of up to 251 km, segment-first features, and Bajaj's legacy of reliability and service, GOGO offers a complete solution for customers seeking high earnings with low maintenance. Backed by over 75 years of trust and purpose-built EV technology, the Bajaj GOGO is the ideal choice for both drivers and passengers, he added.
The Bajaj GOGO comes in three variants – P5009, P5012, and P7012. In the model nomenclature, ‘P’ denotes 'Passenger', ‘50’ and ‘70’ represent size indicators, while ‘09’ and ‘12’ refer to battery capacities of 9 kWh and 12 kWh, respectively. The GOGO symbolises the vibrancy and dynamism of India’s evolving three-wheeler segment and reflects Bajaj Auto’s commitment to innovation, cultural relevance, and reliability.
