Bengal assembly's monsoon session to begin on June 9

Kolkata, June 5 (UNI) The monsoon session of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly will begin on June 9, with the House expected to introduce a resolution thanking the Indian armed forces for
launching Operation Sindoor against terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
The operation was launched after terrorists shot dead 26 people, including 25 tourists, at Jammu and K Pahalgam on April 22, in Jammu and Kashmir.
An all-party meeting and a Business Advisory Committee meeting were held on Thursday in the chamber of Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee.
While several senior leaders from the ruling Trinamool Congress were present, the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was absent from the meetings.
Speaker Biman Banerjee expressed his dissatisfaction after the BJP did not take part in the
meetings where many points were discussed to be raised during the monsoon session.
The coming session is very important, he said, and requested all the MLAs, both treasury and opposition, to make the session lively with positive discussions.
In a democracy, debate is always welcome, but one should also remember that to make the House dysfunctional means depriving the people, who had voted to their representatives, the
Speaker said.
On the opening day, the obituary references would be made, while on day two, the resolution will be introduced to honour the bravery of the Indian armed forces in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. A two-hour special discussion has been scheduled on the issue.
On June 11, the House will deliberate on the issue of Ganga erosion, and on June 12, a bill related to ensuring access of water to every household will be debated. UNI PC SSP
