Bihar cabinet approves pulses and oilseeds procurement at MSP

Patna, June 17 (UNI) In a bid to boost the production of pulses and oilseeds and support famrers in the state, the Bihar Cabinet today approved a proposal for the procurement of the such food crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP) from the growers.
After the Cabinet meeting, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) S Siddharth informed that the MSP for chana (chickpeas) for the Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2025-26 has been fixed at Rs 5,650 per quintal. Similarly, the MSP for Masoor (lentil) and Mustard has been fixed at Rs 6,700 and Rs 5,950 per quintal, respectively.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved the Bihar Rajya Vidyalaya Lipik (Niyukti, Sewashart evam Anushashnik Karwai) Rules, allowing the appointment of wards of teaching and non-teaching employees on compassionate grounds in the event of death during their service period. Fifty per cent of the sanctioned posts will be filled on compassionate grounds, while the remaining 50 per cent will be filled through direct appointments.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of a new cadre of school librarians in the state by approving the "Bihar Rajya Vidyalaya Pustkalayadhyaksha (Niyukti, Sthanantaran, Anushashnik Karwai evam Sewashart) Samvarg Niyamawali, 2025". This will enable the appointment of librarians in secondary and higher secondary schools to provide better quality education.
Furthermore, the Cabinet sanctioned the creation of three posts of advisors for the implementation and monitoring of developmental activities of the Education Department.
The Cabinet also approved the Mines and Geology Department's proposal to conduct a "Replenishment Study" for five rivers in the state - Sone, Kiul, Falgu, Morhar, and Chanan - by the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI). This study will help determine the deposit of sand in these rivers during the rainy season, allowing sand mining to be permitted based on the District Mines Survey Report. The Cabinet sanctioned Rs 2.58 crore for this purpose.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the extension of the contract period for the financial year 2025-26 for 1717 Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) personnel, who are retired Indian Army personnel.
The Cabinet also gave its nod for the transfer of 70.5 acres of land to the state Industries Department for developing an industrial area. The land in question falls at Arna (Mauja) in Amnour circle of Saran district. UNI RS AKT SSP
