Three boys drown in pond in Tripura

Agartala, June 17 (UNI) Three boys, including two teenagers and one minor, drowned while bathing in a pond on the premises of Agricultural Research Centre in western outskirts of the city on Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Bobby Shukla Das (17), Shubham Dev (17) and Shubhjit De (15).
The incident cast a shadow of sorrow over the entire locality.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha also expressed grief over the incident and said, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of three young boys due to drowning. The administration has been directed to take all necessary measures.”
According to police, the tragedy unfolded when one of the boys began to drown. To save him, two others jumped in, but all three were ultimately overpowered by the deep water. Local residents managed to pull one of the boys out and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
Unfortunately, other two were later retrieved by police and fire brigade personnel, but doctors at GB Pant Hospital declared them brought dead.
