Bihar CM congratulates winners of four Teachers’ constituencies in Legislative Council polls

Patna, Oct 28 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday congratulated the newly elected members of the Legislative Council from all four teachers’ constituencies, expressing hope that they would work for teachers’ welfare and the development of education.
In separate messages posted on the social media platform X, Choudhary congratulated Suresh Prasad Rai of Jan Suraaj from Darbhanga, independent candidate Rahul Raj from Saran, Dr Sanjeev Kumar of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) from Patna, and BJP candidate Narendra Prasad Singh from Tirhut.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the newly elected MLCs would safeguard teachers’ interests, uphold their dignity and contribute to improving the education sector.
In the Darbhanga teachers’ constituency, Suresh Prasad Rai defeated outgoing Congress MLC Dr Madan Mohan Jha by 324 votes. Congratulating Rai, Choudhary expressed hope that his tenure would be dedicated to teachers’ welfare and the advancement of education.
In Saran, independent candidate Rahul Raj defeated Janata Dal (United) candidate Anand Pushkar by 1,815 votes. Raj, who contested as an independent after rebelling against the BJP, secured a significant victory in the constituency. Congratulating him, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that he would work with commitment towards teachers’ welfare and educational development.
In the Patna teachers’ constituency, RJD candidate Dr Sanjeev Kumar defeated senior BJP leader and outgoing MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav by 1,057 votes. The result ended Yadav’s nearly three-decade-long dominance of the seat. Choudhary congratulated Kumar and expressed hope that his tenure would be marked by efforts to protect teachers’ interests and promote educational development.
In the Tirhut teachers’ constituency, BJP candidate Narendra Prasad Singh defeated independent candidate Bhushan Kumar Jha to secure victory. Outgoing MLC and Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh finished third.
The Chief Minister described Singh’s victory as a reflection of teachers’ faith in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He expressed hope that the newly elected MLC would continue working for teachers’ welfare, dignity and the advancement of education.
