NK Yadav Scores hat-trick on Kosi graduates' Seat

Purnia, Oct 28 (UNI) BJP candidate NK Yadav has won the Kosi Graduates' constituency in Bihar for the third consecutive time, securing a hat-trick in the Legislative Council elections.
Yadav defeated his nearest rival by a margin of more than 11,000 votes after the completion of counting of first and second preference votes in the biennial election.
In the first-preference vote count, Yadav secured 24,528 votes, while RJD candidate Nitesh Kumar received 18,918 votes and Jan Suraaj nominee Rajnish Ranjan polled 15,536 votes. Yadav was ahead by 5,610 votes at this stage.
As no candidate secured the required quota of votes to win on the basis of first preferences, the counting process proceeded to second-preference votes under the single transferable vote system.
Following the sorting and transfer of second-preference votes, Yadav's winning margin increased to more than 11,000 votes, after which he was declared elected.
The returning officer formally handed over the certificate of election to Yadav following the announcement of the result. His victory marks his third consecutive term representing the Kosi Graduates' constituency in the Bihar Legislative Council.
Election observer Prem Singh Meena confirmed Yadav's victory and said the counting process was conducted transparently in the presence of all parties concerned. He also appreciated the cooperation of the counting personnel and others involved in the electoral process.
