Bihar, India scaled new heights of development during Modi's 25 Years tenure: Samrat

Patna, Oct 13 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has said India and Bihar had scaled new heights of development during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years of public service, asserting that the government remained committed to improving the lives of the poor.
After inaugurating the 'Seva Ke Rang, Rashtra Ke Sang' programme on Tuesday organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to mark Modi's 25 years in public service, the Chief Minister said rangoli designs at the event depicted development initiatives undertaken during Modi's tenure.
He said Modi had served as Gujarat Chief Minister for 13 years and had been Prime Minister for the past 12 years, giving fresh impetus to development and public welfare. Continued public support for the Prime Minister reflected people's confidence in his work and welfare schemes, Choudhary said.
In a democracy, public support was earned through service, dedication and performance, he said, adding that those entrusted with the responsibility of serving people must work with complete commitment.
Referring to the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Choudhary said the BJP had remained committed to its ideological goals and worked for years to fulfil its promises. He also thanked union Home Minister Amit Shah and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for initiating efforts to construct a grand Maa Sita temple in Bihar.
Highlighting infrastructure development, Choudhary said several major railway and road bridge projects in Bihar were initiated during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure and had subsequently been advanced under Modi's leadership.
Central assistance had accelerated road, railway, air connectivity and other infrastructure projects in the state, he said.
Efforts were underway to strengthen air connectivity, with the new terminal building at Darbhanga Airport targeted for completion within the next two to three months. Work related to the construction of a terminal building at Purnia Airport was also progressing, he added.
The Chief Minister said the Centre was extending support to Bihar's overall development, including the provision of permanent houses, ration, toilets, drinking water and electricity to poor families.
A target of constructing 12 lakh permanent houses in the state during the current financial year had been set, he said.
Bihar has around 2.32 crore electricity consumers, including approximately 1.93 crore domestic consumers. Domestic consumers had been receiving 125 units of free electricity for the past one-and-a-half years, Choudhary said.
The government was also promoting solar energy to reduce electricity costs for households. Subsidies under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana were encouraging consumers to install rooftop solar panels, while the PM-KUSUM scheme was being promoted to expand solar-powered electricity facilities in the agricultural sector.
Subsidies were also being provided for agricultural feeders to reduce energy costs for farmers, he said, adding that the government aimed to ensure access to clean and affordable energy for more families.
Referring to recent floods, Choudhary said rising water levels in the Ganga, Gandak and Sone rivers had affected several areas of Bihar. The government had taken steps to evacuate people to safer locations and provide essential assistance to affected families, he said.
Flood-affected families had received ex-gratia assistance, while measures were being taken to provide agricultural input subsidies to farmers who suffered crop losses. Assistance for crop damage was scheduled to be provided to farmers on October 14, he added.
Choudhary said the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan aimed to improve the lives of the poor, ensure that government welfare schemes reached the most disadvantaged sections and provide basic amenities to all citizens.
Public trust could be earned only through service, he said, adding that development initiatives under Modi's leadership were strengthening the spirit of service, dedication and nation-building.
