Bihar CM announces Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia for victims of Vaishali boat tragedy

Patna, Oct 13 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed deep grief tonight over the loss of lives in a boat tragedy in Raghopur area of Vaishali district and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.
The chief minister described the deaths, including those of children, as deeply distressing and heartbreaking.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for their families to bear the irreparable loss.
Choudhary also directed the administration to expedite relief and rescue operations and ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured.
As it is, the boat capsized while crossing a river in the Raghopur Diara area of Vaishali district this evening. According to earlier reports, 11 bodies had been recovered, while search and rescue operations were underway to locate those still missing.
