Bihar migrant worker held for AI-generated Vidhana Soudha blast video

Bengaluru, Oct 21 (UNI) Bengaluru City Police have arrested a 25-year-old migrant worker from Bihar for allegedly creating and uploading an AI-generated video depicting a bomb explosion at Vidhana Soudha, the seat of Karnataka's legislature and government.
The accused, identified as Ali, hails from Araria district in Bihar and has been working in Bengaluru as a daily-wage pipe fitter for the past few months, police said.
The video, uploaded to an Instagram account named 'jnx__king__h_g' on Tuesday morning, showed the exterior of Vidhana Soudha before using artificial intelligence-generated visuals to depict a powerful explosion at the iconic building.
Police detected the video during digital monitoring and initiated an investigation to trace its origin.
Vidhana Soudha police station Inspector S P Kumar Swamy registered a case under Sections 353(1)(b) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Investigators examined internet protocol (IP) logs associated with the Instagram account and other digital evidence to identify the person allegedly responsible for uploading the video. The investigation led police to Ali's residence in Bengaluru, where he was taken into custody.
Police are questioning the accused to establish the motive behind creating and sharing the video and to determine whether anyone else was involved in producing or editing the footage.
The motive has not yet been established, and the investigation is continuing.
The incident comes amid security concerns following a separate explosion reported in September at the MRPL premises near Mangaluru, which claimed one life. Police have not indicated any link between that incident and the AI-generated video.
