Bihar: Staff of DEO office arrested accepting bribe

Patna, Apr 8 (UNI) Bihar State Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday arrested a staff member, Punjay Kumar, of the office of District Education Officer (DEO), Patna, while he was accepting Rs 15,000 as a bribe from the headmaster of a school.
Official sources said here that Ravi Kumar, Headmaster of Kurkuri Government Middle School, had lodged a complaint with the Bureau that Punjay Kumar, staff of the office of the District Education Officer (DEO) of Patna, was demanding Rs 15,000 as a bribe from him to release arrears of part payment of salaries for the period of his suspension.
"On the basis of a complaint lodged with the Bureau, a trap was laid headed by DSP of the Vigilance Bureau Rajesh Kumar," sources said, adding that sleuths in the bureau headed by Kumar caught red-handed Punjay while he was accepting a bribe. He would be produced before the special vigilance court of Patna after his thorough interrogation, sources informed.
