Bihar: Three policemen suspended in bank loot case in Samastipur

Samastipur, June 25 (UNI) A total of three policemen were suspended with immediate effect for dereliction of their duties in connection with an accused escaping out of police custody involved in the bank loot case of Maharashtra Bank in Samastipur district of Bihar.
Police said here today that jewellery worth crores of rupees was looted from the Kashipur branch of the Bank of Maharashtra under the Bidupur police station area in Samastipur district.
One accused, Chandu Paswan, arrested in this connection on June 20, had escaped from police custody, taking advantage of the slackness of policemen on duty, convincing them to free him to attend a call of the nature for a few minutes, police added.
"Handcuffed Chandu managed to escape from police custody, taking advantage of the relaxation given to him to answer the call of nature," police said, adding that raids were being carried out to nab Chandu.
Police Superintendent Arvind Pratap Singh had given responsibility to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjay Kumar Pandey to investigate the case.
On the basis of the investigation report, three policemen Pammi Tiwari, Hareram Prasad and Santosh Kumar, were suspended with immediate effect after they were found guilty of dereliction of their duties, police informed.
