Bihar to install tallest statue of Sardar Patel: CM

Patna, Oct 31 (UNI) Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary today announced that Bihar would install the tallest-ever statue of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country's first Deputy Prime Minister and a key architect of national integration.
Addressing a National Unity Day function organised by the Sajhi Virasat Abhiyan on the occasion of Patel's birth anniversary, the Chief Minister said that the statue will be erected in Patna.
The CM paid floral tributes to the Iron Man of India and recalled his contribution to the country's unity and integrity.
Choudhary said Patel had played a historic role in integrating 587 princely states into the Indian Union, laying the foundation for a united and integrated India. Without his efforts, the country would not have emerged in its present geographical and political form, he added.
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working towards making India a developed and economically strong nation by 2047.
He also acknowledged the contribution of former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying his two decades in office had provided important lessons in taking the state's development forward.
The state government was working to ensure that young people from Bihar could pursue education and employment opportunities anywhere in the country or abroad without being compelled to migrate for livelihood, he added.
Choudhary said his government aimed to connect one crore families with the industrial sector by November 2030.
Referring to healthcare, he said the state aimed to make Bihar's health infrastructure among the best in the country over the next four years. District and subdivision hospitals were being strengthened, while facilities for 52 types of surgical procedures had been made available at district hospitals.
He also said measures were being taken to ensure that patients were not referred unnecessarily to bigger hospitals. Doctors referring patients without adequate justification would be required to explain the reasons, he added.
Health Minister Nishant also addressed the gathering.
Several ministers, legislators, public representatives and members of the organising committee attended the programme.
