BJP to hold marches in six Jharkhand districts

Ranchi, Oct 31 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise marches in six Jharkhand districts from November 2 under its “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” campaign.
The first phase of the campaign will begin in Ranchi on November 2, followed by programmes in Giridih and Hazaribagh on November 3, Palamu on November 4, and Jamshedpur and Dumka on November 5. The remaining districts will be covered after the Chhath festival, party leaders said.
BJP state general secretary Manoj Singh said the programmes would be organised under the directions of state party president Aditya Sahu. District-wise in-charges have been appointed to coordinate the marches.
Singh said the campaign aimed to counter the Congress's criticism of the Election Commission and other constitutional institutions.
He alleged that the Congress was questioning the credibility of democratic institutions following electoral defeats.
He said the party would also create awareness about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The exercise aimed to identify the names of deceased, shifted, duplicate and ineligible voters to improve the accuracy of electoral rolls, he said.
Singh also accused the Congress of adopting double standards on democratic institutions and referred to the Emergency imposed during the Congress government.
He alleged that the party was attempting to mislead people by questioning constitutional institutions after electoral defeats.
He said BJP workers would highlight what the party described as the achievements of the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 12 years, including its governance and development initiatives.
The party would use the marches to reach out to people on issues relating to democracy, constitutional institutions and electoral reforms, Singh said.
