BJP Mizoram sets sights on 2028 polls: Bhagwat Karad

Aizawl, Oct 3 (UNI) BJP Mizoram’s newly appointed state in-charge and former union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad on Saturday called for unity among party workers and urged them to work towards forming the next government in Mizoram.
Addressing a gathering organised to welcome him at the BJP Mizoram state office in Aizawl, Karad said his appointment as the party’s in-charge for Mizoram was an opportunity to work for the state’s development and strengthen the party organisation.
Karad said he had visited Mizoram earlier during his tenure as union minister of state for finance and had also travelled to Mamit district as part of his responsibilities concerning the Centre’s Aspirational Districts programme.
“I will work to the best of my ability to strengthen BJP Mizoram and help the state achieve greater development,” he said.
Karad said he had come to Mizoram with the objective of addressing difficulties faced by the state BJP, both within the organisation and outside, and strengthening every party member.
Describing BJP workers as one family, he called for collective efforts to strengthen the organisation.
He said the party’s objective was to form the government in Mizoram in the 2028 Assembly elections, arguing that political power should be used to address people’s problems and work at the grassroots level.
“We want to form the government so that we can work for the people, resolve their problems and reach the places where those problems exist,” Karad said.

He also stressed the connection between the BJP’s central and state organisations, saying that problems faced at the state level were also a concern for the larger party organisation.
The welcome programme was attended by senior state BJP leaders, Siaha district president M Laikaw, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council and CADC president DD Chakma, among others. State general secretary Lalfakzuala Hauzel delivered the vote of thanks.
State BJP president and MLA K Beichhua delivered the welcome address, while state general secretary Delson Notlia conducted the programme. State secretary Stephen Laltawnliana observed the formal proceedings.

Later, Karad attended a Seva Sankalp Abhiyan programme at TNT Orphanage, where gifts were distributed to children as part of the party’s outreach activities. UNI ZC SAS
