Hyderabad, May 6 (UNI) A delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Rajya Sabha MP Dr K. Laxman, National President of the BJP OBC Morcha, called on Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, urging immediate action to identify and deport Pakistani nationals allegedly residing illegally in the state.
The delegation submitted a detailed memorandum citing serious national security concerns in the aftermath of the April 22 terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir's Pahalgam region, in which 26 civilians lost their lives.
The memorandum alleged that the attack was orchestrated by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and supported by the Pakistani Army.
“The entire nation stands united behind the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has given a free hand to the defence forces to respond decisively to acts of terrorism and to states sponsoring such violence,” the memorandum stated.
It also referenced the Central Government’s recent measures, including the annulment of the Indus Water Treaty, minimisation of diplomatic ties with Pakistan, cancellation of visas, and the initiation of deportation proceedings for Pakistani nationals.
In particular, the BJP cited the Ministry of Home Affairs Order No. 25022/28/2025-F.I dated April 25, 2025, under Section 3(1) of the Foreigners Act, 1946, which suspends visa services for Pakistani citizens, excluding long-term, diplomatic, and official categories.
“In light of this directive, we urge Your Honour to ensure that the state administration takes swift and coordinated action to identify all Pakistani nationals currently residing in Telangana without valid documentation or with expired/suspended visas,” Dr. Laxman said.
He further emphasised that such individuals pose a potential threat to public safety and national security. “Immediate verification, documentation, and legal processing must begin without delay. The people of Telangana need to feel assured that the state government is aligned with national efforts to protect our borders and internal security,” he added.
The BJP delegation appealed to the Governor to direct the state government to cooperate fully with central agencies and ensure no lapses occur in implementing these directives. The memorandum concluded with a call for transparency and timely updates to the public on actions taken.
