Body of female doctor found in her own car in Sangli: Dr Gorhe

Mumbai, July 3 (UNI) Deputy Chairperson of Maharashtra Legislative Council, Dr Neelam Gorhe, today said that she has taken a serious note of the alleged suicide by Dr Shubhangi Wankhede near Islampur in Sangli district.
She has directed the police administration to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter through a representation to the Superintendent of Police of Sangli district.
The body of Dr Wankhede was found suspiciously in her own car on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway yesterday with serious cuts to her hands and neck. It is imperative to find out whether this is a suicide or not, Dr Gorhe explained.
She has demanded that the investigation into this case be started immediately under the Indian Penal Code and other ancillary provisions. Apart from this, if any indications like incitement to suicide or threats are found, they should also be investigated.
Dr Gorhe has demanded that it be ascertained whether anyone had put any direct or indirect pressure on her before her death.
She also said that if there are any witnesses in this case, they should be given protection under the Witness Protection Act.
