BRS spreading false propaganda over Godavari waters: Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy

Hyderabad, Oct 26 (UNI) TPCC Media Committee Chairman and MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of continuously criticising and spreading false propaganda about the use of Godavari waters in Telangana.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, he said the BRS seemed to believe an opposition party's role was limited to criticising the government. He alleged that BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) was making baseless statements despite the party having been in power for 10 years.
Chamala alleged that the BRS was spreading malicious propaganda by suggesting that no development should take place in the State because people had voted the party out of power. He said the people were no longer willing to believe KTR’s claims and urged the opposition to act responsibly.
Explaining the water situation at the Kaleshwaram project, Chamala said a water level of 93.5 metres was required to lift water from Kannepalli to Medigadda, but the current level stood at only 89.20 metres. He added that water levels at Medigadda, Sundilla and Annaram were insufficient for the required lifting operations.
He said the Kaleshwaram project was designed to utilise Godavari waters flowing through Telangana, but the present situation did not permit the required lifting and storage of water. He rejected the BRS allegations that water was flowing away to Andhra Pradesh.
Chamala pointed out that projects such as Devadula and Sitaram were located downstream of Medigadda and argued that the water was being utilised by projects within Telangana.
He accused the BRS of deliberately spreading misleading information about water utilisation and urged the party to refrain from creating confusion among people for political gains.
