Business jet crashes and bursts into flames in Florida, killing all nine aboard

Palm Beach County (Florida), Nov 2 (UNI) A private Learjet 60 crashed into a busy road in Florida on Sunday, erupting into a massive fireball and killing all nine people on board, authorities said.
A business jet crashed in a neighbourhood in Florida on Sunday, killing all nine people on board, the US transport secretary has said.
The aircraft, which was travelling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas, crashed shortly before 1 pm local time on Military Trail in Palm Beach County, leaving a large crater and burning debris scattered across the six-lane road.
There were no immediate reports of injuries among people on the ground.
Dashcam footage circulating online appeared to show the aircraft plunging almost vertically towards the roadway before striking the ground and exploding into flames.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the incident as a "catastrophic crash," saying the aircraft appeared to descend like a missile before a massive explosion sent debris flying across the area.
Air traffic control recordings captured the pilot reporting moderate turbulence and ice accumulation on the aircraft shortly before the crash.
The situation appeared to deteriorate rapidly. The pilot declared an emergency, reporting that the aircraft was descending at 10,000 feet per minute before later warning that it was in an overspeed condition and descending at 20,000 feet per minute.
"We are going to crash into the ground," the pilot said in the recording. The final cockpit remark, heard about 35 seconds after the initial mayday call, was: "We're out of time."
Flight-tracking data from ADS-B Exchange indicated that the aircraft lost approximately 27,000 feet of altitude in about one minute before tracking information stopped, CNN reported.
The cause of the crash is still unknown and the identities of those killed are also not revealed by the authorities. It is also unclear how many of the nine people aboard were passengers and how many were crew members.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy described the crash as a "horrific tragedy" and said the FAA was sending a team to assist investigators.
The impact caused significant damage to nearby infrastructure, including water lines.
The crash site is about nine miles from Mar-a-Lago, US President Donald Trump's resort in Palm Beach.
Investigators are expected to examine the aircraft's flight data, cockpit recordings, weather conditions and available video footage to establish what led to the disaster.
The crash is among the deadliest aviation accidents in the United States this year and the deadliest involving a Learjet 60, according to aviation safety records.
