Patna, June 3 (UNI) The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod for filling up 4799 posts of various categories in different government Departments.

The approval was given in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) S Siddharth told news persons here that a maximum of 2361 posts of different categories have been created in the Education Department, followed by 1350 posts in the Urban Development and Housing Department.

He said that the cabinet approved the Education Department’s proposal for the creation of 1503 posts that included 568 posts of Education Development Officer and 935 posts of Assistant Education Development Officer under Bihar Education Administrative Cadre Rules 2025.

The decision to create these posts will help in carrying out micro monitoring of schools right from primary to higher secondary level to ensure quality education in the state, he said.

Assistant Education Development Officer will be given the job of inspecting and monitoring schools in every 10 panchayats, while Education Development Officer will monitor schools at the block level.

It also created 818 posts for Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. Besides, two posts of state officers and 38 posts of assistant state officers were created for three years on a contract basis.

The cabinet also gave the Urban Development and Housing department’s proposal for the creation of 1350 posts for running offices constituted under the Planning Area Authority in every district, Siddharth said.

It created 653 posts for Bihar State Jeevika Fund Credit Cooperative Federation Ltd, Patna constituted under the Bihar Cooperative Society Act 1935, the ACS said while adding that 390 posts for Women and Child Development Corporation have been created for better implementation and monitoring of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005.

The Act talks of creating posts of protection officers in every district to ensure the protection of women from domestic violence. These officers will be appointed at the state headquarters level (corporation)/ district/ sub-division.

The cabinet gave its nod for the creation of 15 posts in the General Administration Department while 28 posts have been created for expansion and strengthening of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

Siddhartha said that the cabinet also reduced VAT rate from 29 per cent to four per cent on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), he said, adding that the move would enable the aircraft to refuel at Patna. It would increase the number of flights and make the state competitive on par with neighbouring states.

It also gave its nod to the Urban Development and Housing Department’s proposal to expand the area of municipal councils of Phulwarisharif, Danapur nizamat and Khagaul in Patna district. It would enable the residents to get facilities provided by urban local bodies. Besides, the move would increase the urban area.

The decision would extend Phulwarisharif’s municipal area by 16.51 square km, while Danapur’s 23.14 sq km and Khagaul’s 9.4 sq km.

In yet another important decision, children (03-06 age) getting pre-school education at Anganwadi Kendras will now get a uniform prepared by Jeevika, Bihar. The cabinet decided in this regard to make an amendment in the existing provision as under which Rs 400 per child per year is given into the bank accounts of parents. Two sets of uniforms will be provided by Jeevika, Bihar, at Anganwadi Kendras, the ACS said, adding that Jeevika would get an annual increase of five per cent in the rate of uniform.

The cabinet gave its nod to hand over five acres of land located on the southern flank of the river Ganga at Mauja Dujra Diyara in Patna on temporary lease for 25 years to the Indian Inland Waterways Authority of India to repair ship and construct of dry dock, ACS said.

It also approved the transfer of 25 acres of land to the Health Department for the construction of government medical college and hospital at a place in Amarpur circle of Banka district.

The cabinet sanctioned Rs 37.83 crore for widening and strengthening of 2.45 km old bypass road (Sujata bypass) in Gaya Ji district. It also sanctioned the building of a 560-bed minority residential school each at Brahmpur (Buxar) and Chenari (Rohtas).

The cabinet sanctioned for grant of Rs 5 crore for setting up the Artificial Intelligence Centre, which will be carried out with the help of Hyderabad-based National Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Institution.

It also approved the Bihar State Bridge Management and Monitoring Rules 2025 for the management and maintenance of bridges.

The cabinet sanctioned Rs 38.47 crore for the maintenance of Kanwariya Path from Sultanganj to Dumma in Banka district for a period of five years from 2025 to 2029. The Kanwariya Path is used during the Shravani fair.
