CHEMEXCIL honours 70 exporters, Prof M M Sharma gets Lifetime Achievement Award

Mumbai, Sept 30 (UNI) Seventy exporters from India's chemical and allied sectors were recognised for their export performance at the 49th Export Awards Ceremony organised by the Basic Chemicals Cosmetics and Dyes Export Promotion Council CHEMEXCIL here on Wednesday.
Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan Professor M M Sharma was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award for his distinguished contribution to the chemical industry.
The ceremony, held at Hotel Sahara Star, recognised the performance of CHEMEXCIL member exporters during the financial years 2021 to 2022 and 2022 to 2023. Exporters, senior government officials, representatives of industry associations and other trade stakeholders from the chemical and allied sectors attended the event.
Maharashtra Industries Minister Dr Uday Samant attended as the chief guest. S Satyanarayana, Director in the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, was also present along with CHEMEXCIL Chairman Dr Satish Wagh and Executive Director Vishal S Ganju. Members of the Committee of Administration, industry representatives and exporters also participated in the ceremony.
CHEMEXCIL presented awards to 70 recipients across competitive export categories in addition to three special honours. Professor M M Sharma received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Supriya Lifescience Ltd received the Emerging MSME of the Year award for 2022 to 2023 for its rapid market development. GPC Regulatory India Pvt Ltd was presented the Compliance Leader Award for its work in regulatory compliance management frameworks.
Addressing the gathering, CHEMEXCIL Chairman Dr Satish Wagh congratulated the recipients and highlighted the resilience demonstrated by Indian exporters amid changing global trade conditions. He called upon the industry to take advantage of opportunities arising from diversification of supply chains by focusing on innovation, quality, sustainability and greater value addition.
Dr Wagh also outlined CHEMEXCIL's initiatives to support exporters through market access programmes, buyer seller meets, trade delegations and policy advocacy.
Dr Samant highlighted Maharashtra's position as a major industrial centre and stressed the role of infrastructure, investment, technology and participation by micro small and medium enterprises in increasing exports.
The event also included remarks attributed in the supplied material to Shri Kumar, who emphasised market diversification, regulatory compliance, responsible manufacturing and stronger participation in global value chains in line with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
A cultural programme was also organised during the ceremony. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by CHEMEXCIL Executive Director Vishal S Ganju.
CHEMEXCIL was established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Government of India to promote exports of chemicals, cosmetics, dyes and allied products. The council works with the industry and government on issues and requirements concerning exporters.

Tata Sons shareholder Sir Dorabji Trust to file caveat with Maha Charity Commissioner

Mumbai, Sep 30 (UNI) The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT), which is one among the Tata Trusts headed by Chairman Noel Tata, is in the process of filing a caveat with the Charity Commissioner of Maharashtra’s office after a complaint by trustee Venu Srinivasan, sources said.
The development comes after trustee Venu Srinivasan filed a complaint with the Charity Commissioner on Tuesday, alleging “illegal and irregular appointment of perpetual trustees and serious governance lapses” at the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT).
