Chhattisgarh: High-tech bus stand to be built in Jashpur Nagar at Rs 11.83 crore cost

Raipur, Oct 14 (UNI) Jashpur district is set to receive a major boost to its public transport infrastructure, with a high-tech bus stand coming up in Jashpur Nagar at a cost of Rs 11.83 crore. The project has been approved following the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, and the tendering process is underway.
The proposed terminal will span approximately three acres and provide modern facilities for passengers, while improving the management of bus services in the town. The project also fulfils a long-standing demand for an upgraded bus stand in the district headquarters.
The new bus stand is planned on the site of the old cattle market in Ward No. 8 of Jashpur Nagar. With parking space for 35 to 40 buses at a time, the terminal will help organise bus operations and provide passengers with a safer, more comfortable environment. The existing bus stand is a major transport hub for the district, handling more than 100 buses and over 5,000 passengers daily.
Bus services connect Jashpur Nagar with rural and urban areas across the district, as well as destinations in neighbouring states, including Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar and West Bengal. The growing volume of passenger traffic has increased the need for better infrastructure. The proposed terminal is expected to improve the overall travel experience and make bus operations more organised.
The terminal will be equipped with facilities designed to make travel more convenient and accessible. These will include modern waiting halls, ticket counters, lifts and toilets. Digital information screens will provide updates on bus arrivals and departures, helping passengers plan their journeys more easily. Plans also include 40 shops within the bus stand complex. These outlets will give passengers access to essential goods and services while creating opportunities for local businesses and employment. The improved facilities are expected to be especially useful for women, senior citizens, children and passengers travelling from remote villages.
As the district headquarters, Jashpur Nagar receives a steady flow of people from surrounding villages who travel there for education, healthcare, business, employment and official work. The new terminal will offer these passengers improved facilities and help streamline bus movement, easing traffic management in the town. The project is expected to strengthen transport links between rural and urban areas and improve travel facilities for people commuting to and from neighbouring states.
Efforts to upgrade public transport infrastructure are also extending to other parts of Jashpur district. Modern bus stands have been approved for Kunkuri and Pathalgaon, in addition to the project planned for Jashpur Nagar. Construction is already underway on bus stands in Bandarchua and Duldula, with Rs 1 crore allocated for each project. Once completed, these facilities will improve passenger convenience and expand access to organised public transport across the district. Together, these projects are expected to strengthen Jashpur’s transport network, improve passenger amenities and support local trade, employment and economic activity.
