New Delhi/Hyderabad, May 24 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, addressing the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog chaired by the Prime Minister, unveiled the ambitious “Telangana Rising 2047” vision—a comprehensive development roadmap aligned with the national goal of achieving a Viksit Bharat.
Opening his remarks with a strong condemnation of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, CM Reddy expressed solidarity with the Armed Forces and reaffirmed Telangana’s unwavering commitment to national unity. He stressed the importance of cooperative federalism and urged for deeper Centre-State collaboration to ensure equitable and inclusive growth across the country.
The Chief Minister outlined Telangana’s aspiration to become a USD 1 trillion economy within the next decade. He highlighted key transformative programmes, including the Indira Mahila Shakti Mission for women’s empowerment, Young India skilling initiatives targeting youth, and expansive public welfare schemes.
Major announcements included subsidised LPG under the Mahalakshmi Scheme, free electricity through Gruha Jyothi, women-led solar energy generation programmes, and significant employment drives that have already filled over 60,000 government jobs.
Reaffirming the State’s commitment to inclusive growth, CM Reddy emphasised that true development is only possible when every citizen, particularly women and youth, is empowered to contribute to nation-building.
He outlined landmark steps taken to alleviate agrarian distress, including a large-scale farm loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh per farmer family, benefitting 25.35 lakh farmers with total relief amounting to Rs 20,616.89 crore.
Under the Rythu Bharosa Scheme, farmers receive Rs12,000 per acre annually, while the Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa Scheme extends Rs 12,000 yearly support to landless agricultural labourers.
To incentivise quality cultivation, the government introduced a Rs 500 per quintal procurement bonus for fine variety paddy, contributing to a record production of 1.53 crore tonnes in 2024. The Rythu Bima scheme continues to provide Rs 5 lakh in life insurance coverage to farmers.
Special attention has also been given to tribal communities through the Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam Scheme, which provides free solar-powered pumps and drip irrigation systems, promoting sustainable agriculture and generating additional income from electricity sales.
A milestone in data-driven governance, the State conducted the SEEPEC Survey (Social, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste Survey), covering 94,261 enumeration blocks. This granular data has guided the introduction of two significant legislations aimed at enhancing representation for BCs, SCs, and STs in education, employment, and local governance.
Telangana also became the first Indian state to implement sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes through the Telangana SC (Rationalisation of Reservations) Act, 2025, based on a Supreme Court judgment and recommendations of a Special Inquiry Commission.
These initiatives not only address historic disparities but also position Telangana as a model of inclusive, transparent, and evidence-based governance for the rest of the country.
