Focus on skill development to secure local jobs, says Union Minister Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, May 25 (UNI) Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy emphasised the urgent need to address the local employment gap by enhancing skill development among youth and women.
He noted that due to a lack of job-related skills, people from outside the city are securing employment opportunities that should ideally go to residents.

Speaking during a visit to Ratnanagar and Sajjanagar bastis in the Secunderabad constituency on Saturday, the Union Minister inspected ongoing community hall construction works.

He pointed out that while Hyderabad offers abundant job opportunities, the local population is often unable to capitalise on them due to insufficient training and skill sets.

Reddy urged the government, elected representatives, and officials to collaborate in establishing and expanding skill centres that can provide large-scale training to the local youth and women.

Highlighting initiatives under his leadership, he said skill development programs for women are already underway at a centre in Barkatpura.

He stressed that empowering locals with necessary skills would not only improve employment rates but also lead to financial independence for many families. “Youth and women must seize these opportunities and be supported in their journey towards economic self-reliance,” he said.
During the inspection, he recalled that as a former MLA, he had initiated the construction of a community hall in Ratnanagar. With the growing population in the area, another hall is now under construction, and he called for accelerating the pace of such infrastructure development in bastis.

Reddy underlined the need for faster allocation of GHMC funds to enhance community facilities such as hospitals, drainage systems, and roads. He stated that timely government support would significantly improve living conditions in slum areas.

Later in the day, the Union Minister participated in a Tiranga Rally from Krishna Kant Park to Yusufguda Chowrasta as part of a public outreach campaign in Jubilee Hills constituency.
