Come to Buxa for inner peace: union Minister Bhupender Yadav

Siliguri, Oct 2 (UNI) "Come to Buxa for peace, for inner peace and for permanent peace," union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Friday, sending out a message to tourists in India and abroad to visit and stay in the Buxa tiger reserve, located in Alipurduar district of West Bengal.
Yadav made the remarks during an informal interaction with local reporters after visiting Buxa Rajabhatkhawa and interacting with members of a self-help group. He also bought a locally made cap and wore it while moving around the area.
"I am moving around here and I can see signs saying 'Tiger Returns'. It shows that a happy atmosphere has spread across Buxa. There is also a picture of a tiger with an umbrella. For our old forest officials, this is a very emotional day for tiger conservation, and it is a matter of pride for Buxa," he said.
Yadav said he had expressed his interest to the Chief Minister in developing an eco-tourism city in the Buxa area, where visitors from outside could come, stay and experience the region.
"Buxa is not only about tigers. There are different species of butterflies, elephants, leopards and many other species. But the biggest thing Buxa has is peace. There is peace in this forest region. So my message is: come for peace, come for inner peace and come for permanent peace, and stay in Buxa," he said.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav also administered a pledge to officials at the Buxa Tiger Reserve to keep the reserve plastic-free. The pledge was taken on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, keeping the spirit of Swachh Bharat in mind and reaffirming the commitment to making Buxa free of plastic.
The union Minister also stressed the need for a strict protocol on the use of plastic inside the Tiger Reserve. He said he had asked the Director of Buxa Tiger Reserve to ensure that tourists followed an entry protocol under which they would not be allowed to carry plastic, including plastic water bottles.
"Tourists should carry jute-made bags and glass bottles, not plastic bottles for water," he said.
"When the tiger comes, good roads will also come up," Yadav said.
