Conditions favourable for Southwest Monsoon onset over Kerala in next 2 days: Met

Amaravati, May 23 (UNI) Conditions are likely to become favourable for the onset of the Southwest Monsoon over Kerala during the next two days, the Meteorological Centre said on Friday.
In its daily weather report, the Centre also stated that favourable conditions are expected for the further advance of the Southwest Monsoon over additional areas during the same period.
These include some more parts of the South Arabian Sea, the remaining parts of the Maldives and Comorin area, parts of the Lakshadweep area, Kerala, parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, as well as more areas of the South and Central Bay of Bengal, North Bay of Bengal, and some parts of the northeastern states.
Additionally, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the West Central and adjoining North Bay of Bengal around May 27, which is expected to become more marked over the subsequent two days.
Under its influence, heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on May 27.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speed ranging from 50-60 kmph is likely to occur at isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema during the next five days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at a few places or at many places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Rayalaseema during the next seven days.
Rainfall occurred at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours, the report added.
