Congress Govt will grant financial support to over 4,000 dialysis patients

Hyderabad, Jun 21 (UNI) In a significant step towards social welfare, the Congress-led Telangana government has announced financial support of Rs 2,016 per month for 4,021 dialysis patients of the state.
This marks a historic increase in the number of beneficiaries compared to the previous BRS regime, which had extended Aasara pensions to 4,011 dialysis patients over its entire term.

The initiative, spearheaded by Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka, demonstrates the government’s commitment to compassionate governance. Recognizing the financial struggles of dialysis patients who require frequent hospital visits, the government expedited the selection process to ensure timely relief.

In addition, the state is likely to extend similar support to HIV-positive individuals, with around 13,000 applications already received. The final selection is pending approval from the Finance Department.
Currently, Telangana spends Rs 993 crore monthly on pensions, a figure expected to rise as more eligible beneficiaries are identified. The move reflects the Congress government’s broader focus on inclusive welfare and healthcare support for vulnerable populations, an official statement said on Saturday.
