Congress observed Black Day in Tripura

Agartala, Oct 8 (UNI) Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee observed a 'Black Day' on Thursday, calling for the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and contending that democratic freedoms were being compromised throughout the nation.
Congress party members organized a protest procession in Agartala, dressed in black and carrying black insignia. The demonstration was led by Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashish Kumar Saha and MLA Sudip Roy Barman.
A substantial contingent of party members and officials participated in the event. During his remarks to the assembled crowd, Roy Barman asserted that the protest was arranged in reaction to law enforcement measures taken against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge, and INDIA bloc parliamentarians and leasers during a demonstration on the preceding day.
"We have mobilized today to oppose the severe mistreatment and excessive police force witnessed previously, encompassing the mistreatment of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Kharge, and INDIA bloc parliamentarians and senior officials.
The protest aims to safeguard democratic institutions and seek the prompt resignation of Gyanesh Kumar," Roy Barman stated. Uttering the rallying cry, "Gyanesh has to go," the Congress official declared that the organization had committed itself to sustaining its campaign to "reinstate democracy" throughout the nation.
Roy Barman asserted that equivalent demonstration initiatives were executed throughout Tripura, with Congress members conducting processions and assemblies in multiple regions pursuant to the directives of the Pradesh Congress Committee.
In justifying the designation of the day as a 'Black Day', Roy Barman contended that the constitutional entitlement to demonstrate was being restricted and that law enforcement agencies were being deployed to obstruct citizens from exercising their constitutional protections.
“This constitutes a democratic nation. We shall not be permitted to voice our opposition, we shall not be permitted to assemble publicly, and law enforcement shall be deployed against us—under such circumstances, the nation cannot function appropriately," he remarked.
