Bhopal, June 19 (UNI) The Congress party has warned of launching an agitation in support of tribals in Madhya Pradesh if the state government fails to meet their demands regarding land pattas within 15 days.
Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Umang Singhar, along with former Union Minister Arun Yadav and Congress Working Committee member Kamleshwar Patel, levelled serious allegations against the BJP government, accusing it of injustice, displacement, and suppression of tribals through false charges.
The Congress leaders criticised the government's policies as anti-tribal, claiming that the BJP has deviated from development issues and is now solely focused on religious politics
Singhar alleged that the government is depriving tribals of their traditional rights, citing the cancellation of thousands of tribal families' land pattas without prior notice.
Singhar claimed that only five pattas have been issued in the entire state, specifically in Jhabua district, "indicating the government's intention to oust tribals from their homes and forests rather than granting them their rightful entitlements".
He warned that if the government fails to meet the tribals' demands within 15 days, the Congress party will launch an agitation.
Arun Yadav accused the government of attempting to displace tribals from forests to serve corporate interests, while the same tribals are working tirelessly to protect the environment.
Yadav cited the example of Nepanagar, where tribals are being forcibly removed from the forest.
The Congress leaders demanded that the government take immediate action to address the tribals' concerns and grant them their rightful entitlements, failing which they will face the wrath of the Congress party's agitation.
