Congress workers stage demonstration, seek dismissal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Kolhapur, Sept 28 (UNI) Congress workers on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the district collector’s office here, demanding the immediate dismissal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, while raising slogans in support of protecting the vote, democracy and the Constitution.
The protest, led by Congress district president and MLC Satej Patil along with district office-bearers, was held at Tarabai Park this afternoon. Protesters raised slogans against the government and the CEC and demanded Kumar’s removal from office.
Addressing the gathering, Patil said, “It is the duty of the Election Commission to conduct elections in the country in a free and fair manner. The Election Commission, which is an autonomous body, appears to have become a puppet of the ruling party in recent years.”
