Patna, June 26 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) was conspiring to remove the names of tribal, dalit and minority voters from the list in the name of special voter list revision campaign in Bihar.

State secretary of CPI Ramnaresh Pandey told media here today that the commission was planning to remove the names of the class from the list with a mission to manipulate the election.

Demanding to immediately stop the revision campaign, Pandey said the last intensive revision in Bihar was conducted by the ECI considering January 01, 2003 as the eligibility date. After this, an intensive revision campaign was now being conducted on such a large scale in 2025. It is not possible to conduct an intensive revision campaign in one month before the Bihar Assembly elections, the CPI leader said and asked the government to immediately stop it.

Lambasting the conditions fixed for the voter list revision, the CPI state secretary said that the condition has been imposed that a person born between July 1, 1987 and December 2, 2004 should have proof of one of his parents being Indian citizens and those born after December 2, 2004 should have proof of both parents being Indian citizens. Condemning it, he said it was not only a step that will deprive people from voting but it can completely derail the preparations for the elections.

He also expressed doubts as to how such a huge campaign would be completed in just one month.

The CPI state secretary said the ECI wanted to make Bihar an experiment ground, which the CPI opposed. He demanded to stop the special revision campaign with immediate effect. "The ECI should guarantee clean, fair, peaceful and democratic elections in Bihar and should not deprive dalits, tribals and minorities from voting," he said.
