Countries believe in democracy should unite against terrorism: Ravishankar

Patna, June 7 (UNI) Terming terrorism as harmful to democracy, humanity, and human rights, Patna Sahib Lok Sabha MP and former Union Minister Ravishankar Prasad expressed concern over Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and stressed the need for countries that believe in democracy to unite against it.
Prasad, who visited Germany as a part of the Indian delegation touring various countries to bolster international support for a "zero tolerance" policy on terrorism originating from Pakistan, said in a release here on Saturday that the delegation discussed terrorism and economic development during a meeting with German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul.
Prasad said in the release that Wadephul condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. During the meeting, Prasad stated that terrorism was harmful to democracy, humanity, and human rights. He expressed concern over Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and emphasized the need for countries that believe in democracy to unite against it.
According to the release, Prasad, during interaction with Wadephul, highlighted Pakistan's military ruler's real power, who supports and provides economic aid to terrorism. He pointed out that Pakistan has been under military rule for nearly 55 years, citing examples of military rulers like Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Pervez Musharraf, and Asim Munir, who have publicly stated that Hindus and Muslims cannot coexist.
The release said that Prasad emphasized to the world to understand that organizations like the IMF provide financial assistance to such individuals, who use it to purchase weapons from China and promote terrorism, as these generals are not elected and have no accountability. Prasad stressed that the roots of terrorism were often found in Pakistan, citing examples like Osama bin Laden's capture in Pakistan, the 9/11 attacks, the 26/11 attacks, and terrorist incidents in London, where either Pakistani terrorists were involved or terrorists trained in Pakistani terrorist camps were involved.
The MP emphasized the need to strengthen economic ties with Germany, one of the world's largest economies, and India is the fourth-largest economy. Through Digital India, infrastructure development, space technology, and startups, India has become a significant power. He added that there was a need to further strengthen economic relations between Germany and India.
