DC urges Kangra residents to take precautions against heatwave

Dharamshala, June 11 (UNI) As the heat wave has affected the hill district too, so Deputy Commissioner Kàngra Hemraj Bairwa has appealed to residents of Kangra district to remain alert as some areas are experiencing intense heatwave conditions.
He urged citizens to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from heatstroke.
People affected by heatstroke should be moved to a shaded area immediately. Their tight clothing should be loosened or removed, and the body should be wiped with a cool, wet cloth or given a cold-water bath. Homes should be kept cool using curtains, blinds, or shutters, and windows should be kept open at night for ventilation.
Anyone feeling dizzy or unwell should consult a doctor without delay. Hydration is vital—people should drink ORS, lemon water, or a sugar-salt solution to replenish body fluids.
The DC advised avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours and refraining from strenuous work in high temperatures. Alcohol, tea, coffee, overly sweet drinks, carbonated beverages, and stale food should be avoided.
Children should not be allowed to play in the sun, and food preparation should be minimised during peak heat. Importantly, children and pets must never be left unattended in parked vehicles.
The district administration has asked the public to remain cautious and take these steps seriously to prevent heat-related health emergencies.
