Kolkata, May 16 (UNI) Despite multiple challenges on the external front, engineering goods exports have started on a strong note in the current fiscal year, offering hope that the outlook for the sector will remain positive in the coming months for India, according to EEPC India.
As per the trade data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, engineering goods exports rose 11.28 per cent year-on-year in April 2025 to $9.51 billion as compared to $8.55 billion in the same month last year, EEPC India chairman Pankaj Chadha said on Friday.
While the recently concluded free trade agreement with the UK would further push engineering exports from India, the upcoming bilateral trade agreement with the US is set to drive shipments from the country in a big way, he noted.
" Given the geopolitical issues and uncertainties stemming from the major US trade policy shift, the exporting community needs to chalk out plans for diversifying export destinations, " he said.
He said the government has extended continuous support to the industry in order to navigate the global challenges. " We hope it will continue to take policy measures to further strengthen the engineering exports sector," Chadha said.
