Delhi CM launches cashless facility for Delhi Jal Board pensioners to ensure hassle free medical treatment

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in the presence of Water Minister Parvesh Verma, on Monday launched a cashless medical facility for over 50,000 pensioners and family pensioners of the Delhi Jal Board under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’.
The facility is aimed at providing significant relief to retired Jal Board employees, and their families, by easing the financial and procedural difficulties they face during medical treatment.
Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay, along with board members, senior officials were also present on the occasion.
In her address, Gupta said the pensioners had devoted a significant part of their lives to serving the city, and it was therefore the government’s responsibility to ensure that, at this stage of their lives, they receive better healthcare facilities in an easy and dignified manner.
Earlier, whenever pensioners needed treatment for an illness, they had to pay the medical expenses from their own pockets first, and then had to apply for reimbursement and go through a lengthy process, which was particularly difficult and cumbersome for elderly pensioners.
CM Gupta said the government understood this problem faced by pensioners and has worked towards introducing the facility.
She shared that there were several hurdles and challenges in implementing the system, but the government overcame them and dedicated the facility to DJB pensioners today.
Gupta said the government’s objective was not merely to launch schemes, but to create systems that make people’s lives easier.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government aims to provide Delhiites with better, simpler and more accessible services,” she added.
Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said that the Jal Board employees and pensioners had dedicated their lives to serving Delhi, and it was therefore inappropriate for them to go through paperwork and a lengthy reimbursement process for medical treatment after retirement.
It was with this objective that the cashless medical facility had been introduced, he said, adding that more than 50,000 pensioners and family pensioners will benefit from the facility.
The entire process has been made simpler and more convenient through a single-window system, he informed, adding that it is not merely a medical facility, but also a reflection of the respect and sense of responsibility towards employees who have made a significant contribution to households across Delhi for years.
