Delhi exempts ex-Agniveers from written, physical tests for prison jobs

New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) The Delhi government has exempted former Agniveers from written examinations, physical standard tests, physical efficiency tests and the Class 12 qualification requirement for direct recruitment to Warder and Matron posts in the Prison Department, according to a Gazette notification published on Saturday.
The notification issued by the Home Department provides 20% horizontal reservation for ex-Agniveers in the two categories of posts.
Under the revised provisions, former Agniveers will not be required to appear for the written examination, undergo the Physical Standard Test (PST) or Physical Efficiency Test (PET), or meet the existing 10 2 educational qualification requirement for these posts.
The amendment also stipulates that the recruitment of ex-Agniveers will be governed by instructions issued by the union Ministry of Home Affairs from time to time.
The changes follow policy directions concerning the rehabilitation of ex-Agniveers communicated by the union Home Secretary on March 25 and August 22, 2026, and by the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 19, the notification said.
The amendments were approved by the Lieutenant Governor under the provisos to Articles 309 and 320(3) of the Constitution, read with the relevant recruitment rules for Warder and Matron posts.
The notification retains the provision for 20% horizontal reservation for ex-Agniveers in the two categories, while relaxing the specified recruitment requirements for their appointment to the Prison Department.UNI KK AAB
