Delhi Police says no request received on CJP’s ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) The Delhi Police today said it had received no communication or request regarding a list of individuals seeking permission in connection with the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march, amid heightened security in the national capital over the ongoing protests.
Rajeev Ranjan, Additional Commissioner of Police and Delhi Police PRO, said no one, including the BJP, had approached the police on the matter. He also emphasised that the national flag must be handled in accordance with the Flag Code of India and cautioned against the circulation of police personnel’s personal information on social media.
“I would like to clarify that no one has contacted us regarding this matter. We have not received any communication or request concerning a specific list of individuals,” Ranjan said.
Referring to the Flag Code of India, he said the rules governing the display and handling of the Tricolour had been officially notified and were available in the public domain.
“There is an established ‘Flag Code’ that mandates that the National Flag must be hoisted with the utmost respect. All the rules stipulated in the Flag Code have been officially notified and are available in the public domain,” he said, pointing that Delhi Police had also issued a social media post outlining precautions citizens should follow while hoisting the national flag.
Ranjan also condemned the alleged sharing of personal details of police personnel deployed on duty, saying such acts violated their privacy and were unlawful.
“Sharing the personal information of any police officer, or, indeed, any individual, on social media in this manner constitutes a clear violation of their privacy,” he said.
He further said that the police had noticed certain social media accounts isolating photographs and videos of personnel performing their duties and subsequently posting their personal information online.
“This is entirely wrong and unlawful,” he added.
The remarks came amid heightened security in central Delhi following CJP’s call for the ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march, with police deploying personnel and erecting barricades in sensitive areas as the protest unfolded. The march has taken place against the backdrop of continuing demonstrations in the capital. On Friday, CJP founder and national convenor Abhijeet Dipke was placed under preventive detention, while All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora was also detained.
The CJP’s ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march was called for October 16 amid continuing protests in New Delhi over the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demands concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. UNI PWS SS
