Digital governance must ensure doorstep delivery of public services: CM Sukhu

Dharamshala, Oct 16 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday stressed the need for governance reforms focused on public welfare, saying modern technology would play a crucial role in addressing future challenges and improving service delivery.
Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day National Conference on e-Governance Reforms in Dharamshala, Sukhu said government departments must make earnest efforts to provide quality services to people closer to their homes.
He emphasised that good governance and technology-driven reforms should primarily benefit citizens, particularly beneficiaries of government schemes.
The conference, which began on Friday, brought together representatives of the Centre, state and union Territory governments and experts to discuss digital transformation, emerging technologies and citizen-centric public service delivery.
Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Nivedita Shukla Verma, said innovative practices adopted by districts, states and central ministries had made governance more robust and citizen-oriented.
She stressed the need to scale up successful initiatives and replicate effective models across the country, adding that bridging the gap between successful pilot projects and their nationwide implementation was a key objective of the conference.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Kamlesh Kumar Pant highlighted the role of e-governance in enabling citizens to access government services at their doorsteps.
He said digital platforms were helping reduce procedural hurdles, promote equality and improve the efficiency of public service delivery.
The Chief Minister also appreciated union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh and DARPG for organising the conference in Himachal Pradesh.
The first day featured presentations on five key state government initiatives — Him Parivar, Sukhashraya, Vidya Samiksha Kendra, Green Himachal and the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana — covering social welfare, education, environmental protection and forest conservation.
Other presentations showcased technology-driven initiatives, including AgriStack, e-Jagriti, the AI-enabled Clinical Decision Support System under the e-Sanjeevani telemedicine service, the Multi Hazard Early Warning Decision Support System and iGOT Karmayogi.
Presentations were also made on eAarogya Dhamni, the District Court Case Management System, ICMR-MINDS, the India Hypertension Control Initiative and Digi Yatra.
The conference will conclude on Saturday with sessions on cybersecurity, best practices in e-governance, replication of successful initiatives, data analytics and governance innovations at state, district and grassroots levels, followed by the valedictory session.
