Dolly Parton's '9 to 5' sets one-week theatrical return following singer's death at 80

Washington, Sep 27 (UNI) Legendary singer and songwriter Dolly Parton's hit 1980 comedy "9 to 5" is set to return to theatres next month for a week-long run in the wake of her death on August 25 at the age of 80.
According to Variety, "9 to 5" will be re-released in theatres from October 9-15.
Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda co-starred with Parton in "9 to 5", which follows a group of female office workers. There is "the all-knowing manager who trained the boss but cannot get promoted, which is played by Tomlin, a befuddled newcomer (Fonda) and alluring personal secretary everyone presumes is having an affair, which is played by Parton – all band together to seek revenge on the man who is making their lives miserable," the logline reads.
The film was directed by Australian-American film director and screenwriter Colin Higgins and produced by Bruce Gilbert from a screenplay by Higgins and Patricia Resnick. Moreover, "9 to 5" received an Academy Award nomination for Parton's iconic song.
Net proceeds from U.S. ticket sales of the film will be donated to The Dollywood Foundation to support its flagship programme, 'Dolly Parton's Imagination Library', Variety reported.
Since it was founded in 1995, Parton's Imagination Library has donated more than 300 million books to children around the world, and each month it sends out three million books directly to kids' homes.
The celebration, a homage to the film's title, encourages people around the world to make a difference in a child's life and honour Parton's lifelong mission of inspiring kids to 'dream more, learn more, care more and be more.'
Notably, countless Hollywood celebrities, music stars and fans mourned Parton after her death last month. Fonda paid tribute to her in writing: "Let's be grateful for all that she has left us to ease our sadness now. I never knew anyone like her. She was simultaneously a naughty, playful southern gal from the hollows of Tennessee and a deep, soulful thinker who could see through people right down to their true selves."
"She was many things... lyricist, songstress, player of many instruments, writer, prankster, visionary, loyal friend, who'd never go to bed before she and her friends had laughed so hard they'd have to cross their legs," she added.
