DRDO successfully test-fires quasi-ballistic missile Pralay off Odisha coast; induction imminent

New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) India on Thursday successfully flight-tested its indigenously developed quasi-ballistic missile ‘Pralay’ off the Odisha coast, marking a significant step towards its induction into the armed forces, which is now imminent.
The missile was test-fired from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island at around 11.10 am as part of user evaluation trials, with all test objectives successfully achieved, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said.
The test data captured by various range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, confirmed the successful performance of the missile, according to the DRDO.
Developed indigenously by Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, in association with other DRDO laboratories, Pralay represents a significant addition to India's indigenous missile development capabilities. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), one of the development-cum-production partners, has manufactured the missile system.
Senior DRDO officials, representatives of the defence industry, and members of the armed forces witnessed the flight test, which was conducted as part of the user evaluation process. With the latest successful trial, the missile system is now nearing induction into the armed forces.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, the armed forces and industry partners for the successful test, stating that the missile, equipped with advanced technologies, would further strengthen the country's technological capabilities and enhance the operational preparedness of the military against emerging threats.
Defence Secretary and Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development, Rajesh Kumar Singh, also congratulated the teams involved in the successful flight test.
