Dry spell with light to moderate rain till June 8 in J&K

Jammu, May 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir meteorological department has predicted a dry spell with light to moderate rain in the coming week till June 8.

The MeT on Saturday said that in the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain lashed with thundershower at most places.

Poonch, Baramulla, Samba, Jammu and Kathua recorded rainfall with gusty winds.

The weatherman said that on Saturday, there will be intermittent spells of light to moderate rain, light snow over isolated higher reaches, thunder at most places with moderate to heavy rain accompanied with intense showers, and gusty winds at a few places.

Sharing a week-long weather forecast, the MeT said that on June 1-2, there will be a brief spell of light rain and thundershowers at isolated places; on June 4-6, the weather will be generally dry with a brief spell of rain and showers towards late afternoon at isolated places; and on June 7-8, brief spell of rain and thundershowers at scattered places towards afternoon.

"There is a possibility of landslides and mudslides at a few vulnerable places, and intense showers may generate flash floods at isolated places," they said.
