Ex-US intelligence officer says Ukraine is only going to suffer further amid Russia’s ongoing advantage

Washington, June 20 (UNI) Former American intelligence officer Tony Shaffer has said that Russia’s ongoing tactical advantage over Ukraine, is only going to cause further problems for Kyiv, reports RIA Novosti.

Speaking at the 'Judging Freedom' channel on YouTube, Shaffer said: "Russia is already winning and is not trying to stage any grand action. They have continued the steady demilitarisation of Ukrainians, and I think this is more effective than trying to stage something big. Russia has picked up an extremely effective pace. It will only get worse for Ukraine."

Schaffer pointed out that Ukraine had lost the confidence of US, and was receiving little weaponry from Washington, amid Donald Trump’s second term who is known to be much more friendly to Vladmir Putin compared to his predecessor Joe Biden.

While Europe has said that it will continue assisting Ukraine with weapons supplies, the continent also stands divided, with most of Eastern Europe not being in favour of any more military aid to Ukraine, with experts noting that Europe doesn’t have the capability to give Kyiv the arms and ammunition on the scale needed for it to try to win against Russia.

The Russian Defence Ministry earlier reported that over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian troops lost more than 1,360 people. In addition, Kyiv lost ten armoured combat vehicles, nine field artillery guns, three electronic warfare stations, and nine ammunition depots.

Furthermore, in the wake of the Israel-Iran conflict, the Donald Trump administration is redistributing air defence systems to American troops in the Middle East, which were intended for Ukraine.

This includes a contingent of over 20,000 missiles and launchers which were diverted to the Middle East, said Volodymyr Zelensky.
