Expelled K S Eshwarappa hints at BJP comeback

Shivamogga, June 29 (UNI) Expelled BJP leader and former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, K S Eshwarappa, today hinted at a possible return to the BJP, asserting that the party is his lifeblood and that there is no question of joining any other political formation.
Addressing the media, Eshwarappa said, "Hindutva is like my breath. I joined BJP because of Hindutva. Even if I die, I will not leave BJP or Hindutva. So, there is no question of joining any other party."
He added that he is considering meeting senior BJP leaders soon and claimed there is significant support for his re-entry within the party.
The veteran leader, who was expelled from the BJP for six years in 2024 for indiscipline, including contesting the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from Shivamogga, appears to be making overtures for reconciliation. His candidature was seen as a rebellion against the party's official nominee B Y Raghavendra, son of senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa.
Eshwarappa had accused BJP state president Vijayendra Yediyurappa and his father Yediyurappa of denying a party ticket to his son K E Kantesh from Haveri, prompting him to contest as an independent.
Speaking on recent developments, Eshwarappa noted, "I don’t have detailed information. I only heard through the news that BJP workers from the Kuruba community held a meeting and demanded my return. Some of them said good things about me; apart from that, I don't know anything."
He further revealed that he had been approached by leaders from other political parties, saying, "Some Congress ministers contacted me and offered suitable posts for me and my son. Even Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav invited me. But where will I go other than BJP? The party is my life."
Although BJP leadership has not officially responded to his remarks, political observers view Eshwarappa’s statements as an open invitation for reconciliation ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections.
