Faridabad BCA student’s claim of blade attack by intruder found fabricated: Police

Faridabad, Oct 6 (UNI) A BCA student’s complaint that a masked man entered her house and attacked her with a blade has been found to be fabricated, with an investigation revealing that she had allegedly inflicted minor injuries on herself, Faridabad Police said on Tuesday.
The incident was reported from the Khedipul police station area, where the student had claimed that she was studying alone at home when an unidentified man, with his face covered, entered the house and attacked her with a blade before leaving.
Police said they initially treated the complaint seriously, inspected the scene and examined the circumstances and sequence of events narrated by the student.
However, investigators found several aspects of her account suspicious and subsequent verification did not establish that any unidentified person had entered the house or attacked her, according to a police statement.
“During the investigation, no fact emerged to establish that an outsider had entered the house and attacked the student,” police said.
Investigators claimed that the student had inflicted minor injuries on herself and presented them to her family as injuries caused in an attack by an unidentified intruder.
According to police, the student allegedly concocted the story because of her family’s financial circumstances and issues related to her BCA coaching and her inability to find a part-time job suited to her requirements.
Police said she intended to put pressure on her family.
Investigators compared her account with the conditions at the scene and other circumstantial evidence and found discrepancies between the alleged sequence of events and what their inquiry established.
Police said detailed questioning and investigation subsequently indicated that the alleged break-in and blade attack had not taken place as initially reported.
The police statement did not say whether any legal action would be initiated against the student over the allegedly fabricated complaint.
