Faridabad suspends 16 pollution testing centres under ‘No PUCC, No Fuel’ drive

Faridabad, Oct 31 (UNI) The Faridabad administration has intensified enforcement of the ‘No Valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), No Fuel’ rule, with around 16 pollution testing centres suspended for alleged irregularities during inspections.
District Transport Officer and Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Faridabad, Munish Sehgal, HPS, said the drive was being carried out in compliance with directions issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) and the Haryana government.
Special inspection teams have been constituted to ensure strict implementation of the directives. The teams are inspecting petrol pumps and pollution testing centres across the district. Challans have been issued to centres found violating prescribed norms, while around 16 centres have been suspended so far.
Sehgal directed petrol pump operators to verify the validity of a vehicle’s PUCC before dispensing fuel. Pollution testing centres have also been instructed to conduct vehicle inspections and issue certificates strictly in accordance with prescribed procedures and standards.
He warned that violations or negligence would invite strict action under the rules.
Appealing to vehicle owners, Sehgal urged them to get their vehicles tested on time, maintain valid pollution certificates and ensure regular vehicle maintenance to help reduce air pollution.
The inspection drive will continue across Faridabad, he said.
