People of UP will puncture SP’s cycle and send it to Saifai in 2027: Keshav Prasad Maurya

Lucknow, Oct 31 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, asserting that the people of Uttar Pradesh would puncture the party’s cycle in the 2027 Assembly elections and send it back to Saifai.
Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Maurya said that Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have been dreaming of returning to power but their ambitions would not be fulfilled in Uttar Pradesh.
Responding to Akhilesh Yadav’s criticism of the state’s law and order situation, Maurya countered the SP chief to look back at his party’s tenure from 2012 to 2017. He alleged that the period was marked by hooliganism, crime, mafia dominance and communal riots.
Citing union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks, the Deputy Chief Minister asserted that the BJP-led NDA government is firmly established in Uttar Pradesh and would remain in power. He further claimed that the SP would not return to power in the state for the next 30 years.
Maurya also targeted the Samajwadi Party over religious issues, accusing it of being a party of traitors and describing its support for Sanatan Dharma as a political pretence. He said voters would teach the SP a lesson in the 2027 Assembly elections.
The Deputy Chief Minister also criticised Akhilesh Yadav for opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He alleged that the opposition is uncomfortable with the exercise because it would prevent irregularities in voter lists and remove the names of alleged infiltrators.
On the issue of citizenship, Maurya said that citizenship certificates were issued by the union Home Ministry and not the Election Commission. He questioned Akhilesh Yadav’s understanding of the distinction, despite his position as a Member of Parliament.
